Position Overview

This role has an opportunity for growth to full-time with the right person in place!

 The purpose of this role is to work directly with Missi Blue to oversee all operations, employees, communications, schedules, and day-to-day tasks and responsibilities. The Operations Manager is vital to the success of the company.  Your role will be to ensure all details of the daily shop duties are coordinated, organized, and fulfilled. This is a critical role dedicated to ensuring a smooth-running shop for our artists, guests, and clients. You will also be Missi’s right hand, and play a large part in helping to execute the vision and to get projects rolled out,  This is a high-energy, highly strategic position that requires you to transition quickly. Strong versatility is a must.  All operations and procedures rely on the efficiency, accuracy, and dependability of this position. The shop manager must have incredible organizational skills.

Responsibilities (tasks associated with the role) 

  • Overersees all artists, employees, and guests:

  • This includes scheduling, meetings, frequent communication and check ins with crew, delegating tasks, interviewing, hiring, training, performance improvement plans, and firing.

  • Inventory management:

  • You will be responsible for tracking and updating inventory. You will also be required to become knowledgable in the best products and stay up to date with the best pricing and our artists' product preferences.

  • Purchasing:

  • You will be responsible for purchasing all supply and merch orders. You may be required to make travel purchases, and event purchases.

  • Calendar management:

  • You will be required to coordinate scheduling around events, travel, and planned time off for all employees to ensure all hours are covered. It will be your responsibility to schedule all guest artist visits, and looking ahead on the schedule for planning purposes.

  • Communication:

  • You will handle all necessary  business-related communications and follow ups whether by email, phone call, or in person. You will also be responsible for scheduling one on one meetings, performance reviews, and follow ups for all employees as needed. You will be required to communicate expectations and feedback to the crew.

  • Sales:

  • You will be responsible for tracking and reporting weekly sales and expenses to the owner. As well as balancing the drawer, keeping accurate records, and making bank deposits,

  • Big Picture Initiatives:

  • Evaluating our company goals and keeping us on track aligning our projects and tasks with our overall goals. Creating timelines and ensuring the timelines work.

  • Quality Control:

  • Ensuring the input is equal to the output and results. Ensuring results meet the standards set by the company.

  • Problem Solving:

  • You will handle and attempt to resolve all issues that may come up before contacting the owner. You are the first step to resolutions with all employees, artists, guests, clients, or business contacts. Being able to identify problems early and solve them quickly and proactively is essential to our day to day operations running smoothly.

  • Creating and maintaining processes, systems, and templates:

  • Your role will require you to work closely with the owner in order to create and document all systems and processes in the shop, as well as creating a library of tutorials and templates for these processes. Anytime a new system, policy, or process is created you will be responsible for adding the new documentation to our library.

  • Prioritization:

  • You will be responsible for delegating and assigning tasks to assistants and contractors, as well as communicating the order of priority of the tasks, creating deadlines, and following up on them.

  • Organize:

  • You will organize and maintain the organization of all physical and digital files, as well as physical and digital reciepts.

  • Tracking Metrics:

  • You will be responsible for checking in with all employees and contractors on their individual quick check metrics and goals. You will assess, and reassess their metrics, follow up to ensure they are hitting or working towards hitting them, as well as coming up with new metrics as needed.

Requirements (expected proficiencies to excel in this role):

  • High School diploma

  • 2 years (minimum) experience with customer service

  • 1 year (minimum) experience in managing people, projects and numbers

  • Loves organizing things

  • An action-taker that isn’t afraid to share ideas, make decisions, and can react quickly

  • A problem solver who can think on your feet, on your own, and be proactive

  • Not an artist yourself, but loves the idea of being the force that drives an artist’s vision to success

  • Supporting others in reaching their goals is fulfilling to you

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with your crew, the owner, clients, and vendors

  • Wants to grow personally as well as professionally and understands the two are connected

  • Is excited to work in a company that is growing rapidly, and is ready and capable of meeting us at our level to grow with us

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Is an animal lover, because overseeing artists can sometimes feel a lot like herding cats (kidding, but it does come with it’s own unique challenges. Not kidding about the animal lover part, though. We are very serious about our furry friends around here)
